Euchre (Free)

Matt, our expert game reviewer is currently in the UK and a little busy so it’s fallen on me to review some games, so of course I’ll choose those ones that appeal to my age group! I’ve been playing Five Hundred and Euchre for many years and if you are a fan of these types of card games this free one is worth trying out.

I’ve had this game on all my devices since the first Android phone I bought in 2010 and it just keeps getting better. Euchre is one of those games that really require a good ‘A.I’ (artificial intelligence) engine to make the playing experience enjoyable and this one is about as good as it can get I reckon.

Reading some of the comments in the Play Store might give the impression that the game cheats or that your partner plays stupidly – but in my opinion the developers have done a good job in getting the game play realistic. You can ‘tweak’ the settings to alter the lead style of your partner and the opponents and how risky the calls are too.

Recent updates have made the game display better on tablets and even though the game is ad-supported they aren’t intrusive or easy to accidentally hit unlike other games.

Here’s my settings which have taken me quite a while to get right for me – feel free to duplicate them in your game if you aren’t happy with the way it plays.

Stick the Dealer – ticked
Human shuffling – ticked
Partner lead style – Passive
Partner call style – Cautious
Opponent lead style – Aggressive
Opponent call style – Cautious

Why not give it a try and let us know what you think in the comments.
