Here at Androids4Seniors we try to help seniors with technology that they have difficulty with. After all, many of us in the older age group didn’t grow up with computers or mobile phones and learning something new can be a challenge.
Remember when we used to get thick paper manuals with every new technical appliance we bought? Unfortunately, these days everything has gone online and this applies to mobile phones and tablets as well of course.
Google has come to the party recently with the release of this clever app that provides device-related help for you. Think of this app as an intelligent manual for your device – it recognises what Android phone or tablet you are running it on and provides help specific for your device, which is clever. It works out firstly what Android version you are running and only provides help for that version (which is great as often the menus change with each new version release!) and then checks what features it has so the app can provide help for the things you want to do with it.
As well as this you also get proactive help with problems that the app has detected like GPS, connectivity, battery, etc, plus you also get tips to explore new features and improve the performance of your device.
As a bonus and only for Nexus and Google Play edition devices you can access live Google support (only in some countries like the US, Canada and the UK but not Australia as yet).
Note: this app is only available to install on Nexus, Google Play edition and Android One devices running Android 5.0, Lollipop so it isn’t of much use for say, Samsung owners but there are quite a few of the great Nexus tablets and phones out there used by seniors so this will be of use to them.
