Happy Grandparents Day Australia!

More than 35 years ago, President Jimmy Carter proclaimed that National Grandparents Day would be celebrated annually on the first Sunday after Labor Day in the U.S.

Today Australia celebrates this important day.

From the U.S National Grandparents Day website – this day has a threefold purpose: “To honor grandparents, to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children’s children and to help children become aware of the strength, information and guidance older people can offer.”

Androids4Seniors welcomes all our visitors and subscribers from Australia on this special day.

Here are some of our favourite grandparent quotes:

“The reason grandchildren and grandparents get along so well is that they have a common enemy.” Sam Levenson

“Grandchildren don’t stay young forever, which is good because Pops have only so many horsey rides in them.” Gene Perret

“My grandkids believe I’m the oldest thing in the world. And after two or three hours with them, I believe it, too.” Gene Perret

Enjoy the day, maybe your children or grandkids will do something special for you. Hint, hint… Maybe let us know in the comments what your kids or grandkids did with you to celebrate the day?

Finally, the Australian Grandparents Day website now seems to be fixed (it had a spyware infection when I first wrote this post weeks ago), so pop over there to check out what events are underway today.
