Real Jigsaw Puzzles Free

realjigsawpuzzlesfree_resultI recently saw an iPad app that a member of our local computer club showed me that enabled her to make jigsaw puzzles out of her photos and I thought ‘that’s great, I bet there’s a similar Android version’. Sure enough, I found this one and gave it a try.

Real Jigsaw Puzzles Free lets us do just that plus there is a bunch of jigsaws already there that will take a while to work through – over 500 photo jigsaws to try and you can set the difficulty level to an amazing 500 or 1000 pieces, but of course you would need a larger tablet size to be able to do this (and probably better eyesight than me!). The app is still usable on a largish phone but with a reduced number of pieces of course. Your puzzles are automatically saved so you can come back to them later. You can start as many as you like and carry on with each until you have finished it.

When I installed the app on my Nexus 7 it recommended a maximum number of pieces of 625, but I ended up using a much more manageable 64 or 100 pieces on the 7 inch screen and with this number it gave me a challenging puzzle that had reasonable sized pieces that were easy to place. I liked the way the pieces ‘snapped’ together when you had them fairly close, so there was no doubt you had them in the right place.

There is a wide range of themes available including scenery, cars, pets, flowers etc, so you are sure to find a photo to suit but the ability to use one of your own makes it simply brilliant. I have a great shot of Sydney harbour – actually a Windows background – that made a great puzzle. If the image you choose is not square, you just crop your picture to suit from within the app. You can also turn on auto rotation if you are in need of a real challenge, just tap a piece to rotate it clockwise 90 degrees.

A small annoyance I found is the photo preview button (so you can view the photo to help in solving the puzzle) appears behind the puzzle pieces which I found a nuisance. Apart from that, it’s going to be a keeper on my tablet and the best part is the ads are unobtrusive and just appear on the very bottom of the screen away from the playing area.

If you are a mad jigsaw fanatic give this one a try and let us know what you think – or if you have an alternative app you use, tell us about that too.

Thanks for the comment Agnes. I guess you may have worked it out already, but if not just exit the puzzle and turn rotation off. If you set all puzzles to rotation, again exit a puzzle and return to the first menu and turn rotation off. All puzzles started will reset I believe so you can start the again. Good luck!

Really like these puzzles but just loaded 8 puzzles & accidentally picked rotation. How can I either turn rotation off or cancel the puzzles.
