The developers of WikiCamps have come up with another handy app for us travellers, Fuel Map. At this stage it is just available for Australian drivers, but hopefully they will add other countries as they have done with WikiCamps.
From their excellent description : “Fuel Map is a crowd-sourced database of petrol stations and fuel prices from all across Australia. All station information is added and edit by users like yourself. You can also add current fuel prices which are then shared with other users of Fuel Map.”
We’ve been using it and adding our prices whenever we remember to update them as we drive around Australia and find it handy to use and it certainly saves driving around to find the cheapest fuel prices. I like the way you can select the fuel you want to compare (we use diesel and don’t care what prices the various types of petrol are).
Apparently, fuelwatch.wa.gov.au also provides hundreds of fuel prices for WA’s stations every day. Let’s hope that the other states start providing prices soon too, but in the meantime kind users are adding prices when they can to help us all. Locations of stations are shown on a map as a branded pin with the last known fuel price which makes it quick and simple to use.
There is also a fuel log that you can use to keep track of fuel consumption and cost of every fill. Well done WikiCamps, another handy app to add to those us travellers use.
